Unfortunately, in the state tournament (https://www.mshsaa.org/Activities/DistrictWinners.aspx?alg=5&class=1), there is no seeding so the districts are set up from district one on the top to district 16 on the bottom. That means that possibly the two best teams in the state, Dora and South Iron, could meet on March 2nd in a quarterfinal game that will be the best game in the state championship tournament rather than the state finale on March 9th where this winner faces a slightly lower rated finalist from the lower bracket. Too bad they can't seed the teams.

Dora is another state tournament favorite but Eminence recently upset South Iron and will give Dora all they can handle. Unfortunately for Eminence, the defensive shout-out "shooter!" applies to every Falcon player that touches the rock.

Lakeland and Montrose lead this district, and one of these teams could get to the quarterfinals of the state tournament due to a weaker middle of the state tournament bracket (districts 5 to 8).

District 11
In a stronger district, Slater, who has been a favorite of mine since they beat my grandsons Larry Hughes Select 2021 team last summer, should slice though this field unless Glasgow makes some noise. Slater has a good chance to get to the state semi- or final and an outside chance to win the class one title. Go Wildcats!

District 15
Mound City is another state tournament dark horse but will have a tough district game with North Andrew. Assuming they beat them, the undefeated Mound City Panthers could make their way to a state tournament final, with an outside chance of beating Dora or South Iron. They will have to beat good Jefferson (Conception Junction) and Slater teams to get there.
