Final Missouri Boys High School Basketball Rankings

 Here's my final Missouri Boys High School Basketball rankings for the 2017-2018 season.  It was a very interesting experience and grand experiment in ranking 635 high school teams in the state along with about 250 Illinois teams that competed against Missouri teams.

It was gratifying to see a number of Larry Hughes Basketball Academy 2021 Elite team members compete for varsity high school teams as freshman, a tribute to Eric Bain, the LHBA Elite coach.  Hats off to Anthony Phiffer (Webster Groves), Sam Thompson (Francis Howell), Nate Parker (Eureka), Mike Carroll (Parkway Central), Luke Schuler and Ethan Lattimore (Vianney), Myles Estrada (Francis Howell Central) and Justin Holland (University City) for their contributions, large and small, to their varisity squads.

As always, I ignored the ratings and rankings on MaxPreps and in the St. Louis Post Dispatch and used a mathematical algorithm to identify team strengths.  By the end of the season, Webster, despite having a 22-9 record, was the class of the state, with a strong senior group toughing out some early season injuries to take the state class 5 title over a excellent Chaminade team that went 6-5, 6-6, 6-7, 6-9 and 6-11 on their starting five.

Grandview (KC), at #4, didn't come on my radar screen until late because I didn't rank all the west Missouri teams until mid February but they were an easy winner of the class 4 title. 

Hogan Prep, at #16, was the champion in class 3, Van Far, at # 158, was the class 2 winner and Eminence, at #115, was the class 1 winner.   At 31-1, Eminence could have competed with a lot of class 5 teams.
